What types of Pilates classes do you offer at Rebel Pilates?
We currently offer group Mat Pilates classes and private Pilates equipment lessons. Our One hour classes and lessons are designed to be accessible, empowering, and rooted in mind-body connection. All instruction is led by highly trained professionals who tailor the experience to your goals and needs.

What is the difference between Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates is performed on the floor using a Pilates or yoga mat and sometimes small, medium, and large props like resistance bands, balls, or rings. It emphasizes core strength, flexibility, and alignment using your own body weight as resistance.
Reformer or equipment Pilates, commonly found in other studios, uses a spring-based apparatus (the Reformer and Stability Chair, etc. ) to add variable resistance and support. While both methods stem from the same principles, Mat Pilates builds foundational strength and awareness, often making it a better entry point for beginners and a valuable complement to equipment-based work.
At Rebel Pilates, we believe mastering the mat is key to progressing in the Pilates method.

Do you offer group Reformer classes?
We do not offer group Reformer classes. Instead, we provide private equipment sessions using a Reformer, Tower, Stability Chair, Spine Corrector, and TRX Suspension Trainer. These one-on-one sessions allow us to fully tailor the workout to your body, needs, and goals—something that isn’t always possible in a group Reformer setting.

I’ve heard Pilates is hard and I’m a little intimidated. Is it really for me?

Absolutely—Pilates is for every body, and at Rebel Pilates, we meet you exactly where you are. While Pilates can be challenging, that’s actually part of what makes it so transformative—but it should never feel scary or inaccessible.

At Rebel Pilates, we focus on teaching the foundations first: proper alignment, breathing, and core engagement. We break movements down in a way that helps you understand and feel what your body is doing, so you can progress safely and confidently.

Whether you’re walking into your very first class or returning after years away, you'll be supported with thoughtful cueing, personalized corrections, and modifications tailored to your body. We’re here to guide—not push—you through your Pilates journey.

I have some physical limitations—can I still do Pilates?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, Pilates is one of the most effective and supportive movement systems for people with injuries, chronic conditions, or special considerations.

Whether you're dealing with joint issues, a hip or knee replacement, osteoporosis, scoliosis, diastasis recti, or are in the pre/postpartum phase, you're in the right hands at Rebel Pilates. This is Nancy’s specialty—she has extensive experience working with a wide range of special populations and modifying the Pilates method to meet individual needs safely and effectively.

We strongly recommend starting with private equipment sessions if you have significant limitations or are in recovery. These one-on-one sessions allow us to assess your movement patterns, build a safe foundation, and guide you through exercises tailored specifically to your condition and goals. From there, you may also feel confident joining group classes with appropriate modifications.

You're never just a body in a class here—you're seen, supported, and empowered.

What do I do, privates or group classes?
Both formats offer unique benefits, and many clients find that combining them creates the most balanced and effective practice.

Group Mat Pilates classes are performed on the floor using your own body weight and small props like resistance bands or balls. These classes focus on building core strength, mobility, and overall body awareness. You’ll move through carefully sequenced exercises that challenge your stability, coordination, and control—all in a supportive group setting. While these classes are open to all levels, you will receive personalized attention and modifications to suit your needs.

Private Pilates equipment sessions, on the other hand, are one-on-one and fully customized to your body, goals, and movement patterns. Using the Reformer, Tower, Stability Chair, and other classical apparatus, these sessions offer spring-based resistance and support. This allows for more targeted strengthening, deeper alignment work, and faster progress—especially for those dealing with injuries, imbalances, or specific goals.

While group Mat classes build solid foundational strength and encourage consistency, private equipment sessions offer a deeper dive into technique and personalization. For best results, we recommend doing both. Mat classes help maintain regular movement and community, while privates ensure you're progressing safely and efficiently with expert guidance.

Why does combining Pilates and nutrition work better than doing either one alone?
At Rebel Pilates, we believe that true wellness happens when movement and nourishment work together. Our functional nutrition programs and Pilates offerings are deeply connected through a holistic, root-cause approach to health.
While Pilates strengthens your body from the inside out—improving posture, mobility, core strength, and nervous system regulation—our nutrition coaching addresses what's happening internally: digestion, inflammation, hormone balance, energy, and more.
Together, they create a powerful synergy. For example:
* Struggling with bloating or fatigue? Nutrition can address the cause while Pilates helps regulate your nervous system and improve circulation.
* Dealing with inflammation, autoimmune conditions, or hormonal shifts? Nutrition helps lower internal stress while movement supports lymphatic flow and joint health.
* Navigating pre/postpartum changes or perimenopause? Both nutrition and Pilates can help your body adapt and heal in a sustainable way.
This whole-person approach is what makes Rebel Pilates truly unique. You don’t have to choose between fitness and wellness—you can have both, in one place, with support that honors your body and your life.

What is fascia, and why does it matter in how I move and feel?

Fascia is the body’s connective tissue web—an intricate, three-dimensional network that surrounds and supports your muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. Think of it like a full-body suit under your skin that holds everything together and helps your body move as a unified whole.

When fascia becomes tight, restricted, or dehydrated—due to injury, poor posture, inflammation, or stress—it can lead to chronic pain, movement dysfunction, and even emotional holding patterns.

At Rebel Pilates, we integrate fascial release techniques directly into your sessions. That includes:
-
Targeted movement sequences that hydrate and mobilize the fascia
-
Breath work and stretch-based flows that release tension patterns
-
Gentle myofascial cues and hands-on guidance during private sessions
-
And education around how to move more fluidly in everyday life

This kind of fascial-informed Pilates helps you feel more connected, spacious, and aligned—not just stronger. It's one of the key reasons our clients experience lasting change and relief from pain and restriction -- It's what sets Rebel Pilates apart from the rest!
